Epic Games Store has made a last-minute change to the game it will give away for free next week. On February 22, Epic Games Store, which was planning to give away a trilogy of Fallout games, quietly gave up on giving this game for free.
Epic Games Store will not be giving away the Fallout trilogy for free
Epic Games Store is giving away free games every week. Dakar Desert Rally was given as part of the campaign that started last Thursday and will continue until February 22. After this game, the Fallout trilogy was planned to be made available.
The digital store is offering the first two main Fallout games (Fallout and Fallout 2) and Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel for free from February 22-29. However, these games were quietly replaced just two days after they were announced.
The Epic Games Store homepage now lists Super Meat Boy Forever as the free game for the week of February 22. Super Meat Boy Forever will replace the planned Fallout trilogy. However, the company did not provide any reason for the sudden change.
Epic has historically had a good relationship with Fallout owner Bethesda and its parent company ZeniMax. So last-minute changes to the free game schedule are unusual for the Epic Games Store. Some users speculate that Super Meat Boy Forever was changed because it wasn’t free before.
Classic Fallout games were given away for free on the digital store last December. By offering Super Meat Boy Forever for free, the Epic Games Store may also be looking to expand its catalog of games.
