EVs lose big in second-hand and Tesla is the biggest one

Ana sayfa / Electric Vehicles

When everyone buys a new car, they make predictions about how much it will lose or gain in second-hand value. In fact, for many people, the depreciation rate in the second hand is one of the main factors in deciding whether to buy a car or not. So how much value do electric cars lose in second hand? An independent research company has published its report on this issue. Tesla Model S and Model 3 surprised.

The research on the subject covers cars that have been actively sold in the market for 5 years or more. Perhaps the brand that can be taken as the most reference in this regard is the American Tesla. Because the brand, which has been working on electric cars since 2012, has been on the market for 11 years. Naturally, it is also a good reference point for research.

First of all, there are some points to be considered in the research. First of all, many cars could not be included in the research list. Since electric car sales have started actively in the last 2 years, the number of brands and models that have overcome 5 years in the list is quite low. Model 3, on the other hand, took its place in the list because the Tesla brand has been active for a long time.

Satellite connectivity for Android phones is no longer close

Qualcomm terminated its agreement with Iridium for satellite connectivity before the end of one year. And what is the reason?

In the research conducted according to the American market, Tesla Model 3 ranks first in the list with the least depreciation. Here, the fact that the model is very new and has just entered the market can be explained as the reason for the low depreciation. Right behind it is the Model X, which is also a Tesla product. In the ranking of the least depreciation, the Nissan LEAF ranks 3rd, followed by the Chevrolet Bolt EV in 4th place. Tesla Model S, which is in the last place of the list, is in the last place with a depreciation of 55.5 percent.

Here, it can be inferred that the Tesla Model S series experiences more than half of its price as a second-hand depreciation. However, as we said, this research is an American market research by iSeeCars and includes very few electric cars in terms of capacity.

Keep in mind that Model S’s are older than other models and Model S’s sold second-hand are generally used more than other models. For this reason, the decline in battery health rates of vehicles is higher than other models, and this is another factor that reduces their value.
