Warner Bros. is gearing up to bring the world of Harry Potter to the small screen with a TV series adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s seven-book fantasy series. Announced by HBO last year, recent reports shed light on some initial details of the highly-anticipated series.
Screenwriter selection efforts have begun for the Harry Potter series
Warner Bros. plans to air a special adaptation of the Harry Potter book series on HBO Max. According to information shared by Deadline, renowned writers such as Martha Hillier, Kathleen Jordan, Tom Moran, and Michael Lesslie have presented their pitches to Warner Bros. Television for the project.
Warner Bros. Television has not made a final decision yet and is expected to conduct further discussions with the selected writers during the second round in the United Kingdom. Additionally, it’s mentioned that J.K. Rowling, the author of the series, will have a say in the decision-making process.
A crucial detail to note is that if Warner Bros. likes the ideas and visions of multiple writers, they may consider evaluating them separately, potentially resulting in multiple Harry Potter projects. Lastly, when the series was announced in April, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav stated that the Harry Potter production would span “over a decade,” implying that the series will be long-running with at least seven seasons.
