An explosion allegedly occurred at the US factory of TSMC, the world’s largest chip supplier. It was stated that employees were injured as a result of the explosion at the facility in Arizona. The official statement on the subject was not delayed.
TSMC denied allegations of an explosion at the factory
TSMC denied allegations of an explosion at its chip manufacturing plant in Phoenix. However, it said that an accident occurred at the factory recently and an employee was injured. Details of the accident were not shared, but it was reportedly caused by a sulfuric acid removal tank.
TSMC, on the other hand, denied the allegations that an explosion occurred in connection with sulfuric acid. Accordingly, it said there was no explosion or fire at the Phoenix factory. It also stated that the incident did not affect any factory equipment or production line.
The injured driver was hospitalized after the accident. The incident is currently under investigation by police and fire authorities. However, TSMC emphasized that the incident did not affect operations at the Arizona plant or plans for plant expansion.
The chipmaker’s first factory in the state started chip production in April. The factory, which will expand with a total investment of 65 billion dollars, will start producing the TSMC 4nm process in the first half of 2025.
On the other hand, TSMC recently shared its new N2 production technology. It said it will promise a 10 percent to 15 percent performance increase and 25 percent to 30 percent lower power consumption than the current N3E production process.
These changes could help set new technological standards in the chip industry. We welcome your feedback in the comments section below.
