Half-Life fans have been waiting for a new game from Valve for years. However, the company has not yet taken an official step. In this context, some fans decided to make their own projects. Accordingly, a new trailer for a playable version of Half-Life 2: Episode 3 has been released.
Project Borealis trailer released
The new trailer from Project Borealis takes players to Ravenholm, the iconic town from Half-Life 2. This time, however, Ravenholm is under the snow and infested with arctic crabs. The trailer even reuses the line about Alyx Vance not going to Ravenholm.
The development team of Project Borealis said that they want to recreate the atmosphere and gameplay of Half-Life 2 with Unreal Engine 5. While the first game used Valve’s Source engine, Project Borealis will mimic the physics, combat and other systems.
The developer said it was difficult to create new environments while maintaining the Half-Life feel. However, according to comments on social media, the Ravenholm demo was well received. Accordingly, it is thought that the team is on the right track.
The all-volunteer team did not give a date for the community-driven project. However, the trailer is a promising sign that Gordon Freeman’s adventure will continue. Of course, it should be emphasized that it is not an official game.
So do you think Half-Life 3 is really coming? What kind of impact could it have on the gaming world? Are you excited about these new leaks? You can share your comments with us.
