FBI finds John F. Kennedy assassination searches in Trump assassin’s internet history
FBI Director Christopher Wray told the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday that Thomas Matthew Crooks, the 20-year-old man who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump, searched the internet for “How far away did Oswald shoot Kennedy?” a week before the assassination.
This information is considered an important clue to understanding Crooks’ mental state. Wray said the search was conducted on the same day Crooks registered for the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
The assassin also used a drone
According to the New York Times, Crooks visited the rally site in Butler twice on the morning of July 13. During the second visit, he was spotted flying a DJI drone around the rally site for approximately 11 minutes. The FBI is investigating Crooks’ behavior in detail. According to CNBC’s report, the use of the drone is considered to be a preliminary effort by Crooks to further refine his attack plan.
The FBI managed to crack Crooks’ phone last week, but so far no clear motive has been identified. “We have found nothing notable in our information sources about Crooks’ motivation or ideology,” Wray said. As the investigation continues, the FBI and other authorities continue to investigate Crooks’ background and potential connections.
