EA Sports continues its promotional campaign for FC 26. Less than two weeks after the release of the first trailer, a detailed 6-minute trailer has been released, showcasing the game’s career mode. The video reveals the addition of several new systems not seen in previous installments. FC 26, which has undergone a rebranding process since the FIFA renaming, aims to significantly transform the career mode this year.
FC 26 Improves Career Mode
One of the most striking innovations to Career Mode is the Manager Market. This system allows players to dynamically manage not only the team they manage but also their career journeys. Clubs, managed by AI, can change managers.
Coaches of underachieving teams are dismissed, and these teams begin searching for new managers. Players can pursue these opportunities and express their interest to clubs, continuing their careers at different teams.
A new system called Live Challenges brings real-world football to the virtual career mode. This feature allows players to face tasks reminiscent of real-life events, such as taking over Paris Saint-Germain and trying to fulfill Luis Enrique’s goal of winning three trophies last season. EA states that this system will elevate the career mode beyond typical season simulations.
In FC 26, the style of play now influences not only on-field choices but also clubs’ transfer policies. With the Game Identity system, each team’s tactical approach becomes clear. Systems like Gegenpressing, Tiki-Taka, and Catenaccio directly shape the team based on the manager’s preferences. When searching for a new manager, clubs look for players who align with their own footballing identity.
The game’s overall gameplay features two distinct modes. Competitive Play appeals to players who prefer a fast-paced and dynamic football experience, while Realistic Play embraces a slower-paced, strategy-focused approach. This mode, expected to be particularly popular with career mode players, offers a system that mimics real-world football, from on-field movements to passing flow.
The transfer window is also becoming more detailed and multi-layered. Players’ personal goals, expectations, and roles within the club will now be more significant factors in the transfer process. Furthermore, players can set their own rules in career mode, creating scenarios where they only transfer from certain leagues or age groups.
