iQOO, which started its activities as a subsidiary of Vivo in 2019 but currently operates independently, is soon to unveil its new phones. The company’s latest smartphones will be part of the iQOO 12 series, and based on the rumors circulating so far, there is some information about the performance they will offer. However, a recent report contradicts a claim made about the standard model.

iQOO 12 will come with a 1.5K screen, not 2K

Digital Chat Station, known for leaking information in the industry, recently revealed that the iQOO 12 would come with a 2K display. However, a report shared by Lee Ang-aung today refutes this claim and states that the smartphone will feature a 1.5K resolution panel. It’s worth noting that the previous iQOO 11 series, introduced last year, used a 2K panel, so it was expected that this feature would continue with the upcoming phones.

The reason for the iQOO 12 experiencing a drop in screen resolution is said to be the better optimization of screen clarity and power efficiency factors. Additionally, it is mentioned that the smartphone will feature a Samsung E7 AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate.

The device will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, which is expected to bring a significant performance boost. The chipset will host a Cortex-X4 core with a clock speed of 3.7GHz. Changes in the core architecture of the processor are also anticipated.

The current flagship chipset, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, features the Cortex-X3 architecture and operates at 3.2 GHz. This means that the new processor is likely to offer improved performance in everyday use. The new processor is expected to have a 1+5+2 architecture, consisting of one “super-large” core, five “large” cores, and two “small” cores.

iQOO 12 will have a metal body and support 200W fast charging. Additionally, it will be available with RAM options up to 16GB and storage options ranging from 512GB to 1TB, utilizing UFS 4.0 technology. The device will also include features such as an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and a USB Type-C 3.x port. Furthermore, it will come equipped with a main camera featuring a 50-megapixel OV50H sensor.

Expected to be unveiled in December, the iQOO 12 is anticipated to run Origin OS 4.0 based on Android 14 right out of the box.
