The Indian Space Research Organisation announced that they will conduct a space mission with an Android-type robot in the third quarter of 2024. Officials who claim that valuable information about the future will be obtained during this mission also said that the robot in question will work together with astronauts in 2025.
The space adventure of robots begins with Vyommitra!
The institution stated that the robot will be named Vyommitra. Vyommitra means “space companion” in Sanskrit. It is claimed that the robot can perform many different tasks simultaneously and can successfully carry out vital tasks. It is also said that the Android can speak both English and Hindi, and there is curiosity about whether it will be able to learn other languages over time.
Vyommitra, designed as a woman, attracted great attention. With its makeup, stylish clothing, and cheerful face, the Android looks quite confident. However, behind this friendly appearance of the robot lies great potential, and it is thought that it will help astronauts in many ways during challenging tasks in space.
Initially mentioned in 2018, this space mission was expected to be carried out much earlier, but due to the Covid pandemic and various turmoil in India, the mission had to be postponed several times. It is suggested that Vyommitra was designed as a woman because there were no women in the space research team.
