Ferrari suffers cyber-attack, customer data exposed

Ana sayfa / News

Ferrari, one of the world’s most exclusive automobile manufacturers, has announced that it has suffered a surprise cyber-attack. Italy-based supercar manufacturer Ferrari has announced that it has suffered a ransomware attack that exposed the personal information of its customers. Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna sent a message to customers affected by this cyber-attack and explained the situation.

Ferrari confirms leak of customer data due to cyber-attack

“We regret to inform you of a cyber incident at Ferrari, where a threat actor was able to access a limited number of systems in our IT environment,” Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna said in a letter sent to affected customers. So what was captured in this attack? He said that hackers accessed customers’ names, addresses, e-mail addresses and phone numbers. Ferrari said that payment information or details of Ferrari cars sold or ordered were not stolen after an investigation into the matter.

“The breach will not have a negative impact on our company’s production operations,” the company said, adding that it has not yet disclosed how many people were affected by the attack. Ferrari’s CEO also states that the company did not pay the ransom demand of the unnamed hackers. This is, of course, a very logical choice because once the payment is made, the data is not 100 percent certain to be recovered. So, no one can guarantee that.

Recently, Acer also announced that it had suffered a cyber-attack

Before this, Acer was on the agenda for the cyber attack. The company recently confirmed in an official statement that one of its internal servers was accessed by hackers. This confirmation came after a hacker put up for sale 160 GB of “confidential information” belonging to the company. Acer says the 160 GB of data was obtained from a server containing technical service-oriented documents.

The hacker who sold the data claims to have a series of confidential data belonging to Acer. Also, it is said that there are exactly 2,869 different files in the leaked data. However, the company says that no confidential customer data was obtained in the leak.
