Final Fantasy fans are on high alert again this time over a mysterious unlisted video on Square Enix’s official YouTube channel. With The Game Awards right around the corner, speculation is swirling that Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 could finally get its big reveal.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 may appear at The Game Awards
Square Enix quietly updated its YouTube playlist dedicated to major RPG trailers, and eagle-eyed fans quickly noticed. The new, private entry doesn’t name the game, but its timing is suspicious. The last addition was Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail back in 2024. Now, with director Naoki Hamaguchi publicly saying more information is “almost ready,” a Part 3 teaser feels more plausible than ever.
Hamaguchi has openly praised The Game Awards as a key moment for global announcements. When asked about E3’s demise in an interview with Julien Chièze, he said the Keighley-hosted show has effectively taken over its place then added, “It would be a good place for this kind of announcement, yes.”
Development is nearly finished, says game director
In the same interview, Hamaguchi shared that the final chapter in the trilogy is well underway. Gameplay changes are nearly complete, and he hinted that more details including the full title could be announced “soon.” That one word has sparked waves of fan theories, especially given Square Enix’s pattern of staging major reveals around The Game Awards.
It wouldn’t be the first time. Last year, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth dropped a fresh trailer during the show before winning the Most Anticipated Game award.
What could the mystery video actually be?
While the hidden video has many banking on a Part 3 teaser, there are other options:
- FF7 Remake Intergrade for Switch 2 and PC – launching January 22, 2026
- A different FF7 project or VR experience
- A fake-out like past Rockstar “leaks” that led nowhere
Still, Square Enix hasn’t uploaded trailers for existing ports in this playlist before, making a brand-new reveal the more likely scenario.
Other Final Fantasy projects remain in limbo
Fans hoping for a Final Fantasy 9 remake may need to wait longer. According to insider NateTheHate2, the project might be on hold, leaving Part 3 of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake as the studio’s most realistic next move.
A reveal feels close and fans are watching
With The Game Awards approaching and development nearing the finish line, all signs point to something big on the horizon. Whether it’s a trailer, title drop, or brief teaser, Square Enix is clearly moving behind the scenes.
The next chapter is coming. Eyes front.
