What does iOS 18.2 first beta offer?
Apple has announced new AI-powered features coming to its operating systems with software updates, including the first beta for iOS 18.2. ChatGPT support for Siri and many new tools will be available.
With iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2, users will have access to Genmoji, which allows users to create personalized emoji. Genmoji can be added to the keyboard for use in messages and other places where emojis are supported.
Siri will also gain the ability to forward unanswered queries to ChatGPT. After user approval, Siri will integrate with ChatGPT. Thus, it will send the question to ChatGPT and reflect the answer to the user. No OpenAI account will be required and conversations will not be stored.
The iPhone 16 will gain Visual Intelligence, which uses the phone’s camera to gather ambient information. Pointing the camera at various locations will reveal the opening time of the venue, reviews and more. Texts can be read aloud and numbers/addresses can be added to contacts. Purchases can also be made online.
Writing tools in iOS 18.1 and above will allow for more creative changes beyond just tone adjustments. Users will be able to define revisions such as adding more descriptive words or “converting an email to poetry”.
