Former US President Donald Trump made history as the first American president to have a mugshot taken after surrendering in the case of interfering with election results. Trump, who will be competing in the upcoming year’s election, shared this photo on his social media accounts to raise funds. Thus, he made an interesting comeback to Twitter after January 8, 2021.
Former US President Trump shared his mugshot photo
Former President Trump’s first tweet since January 8, 2021 came after he was sent to Atlanta Prison on Thursday due to 13 serious allegations related to election interference in the state of Georgia. The former president, who aims to be reelected in 2024, tweeted shortly after the public release of his mugshot photo.
In the fourth arrest process for Trump, a mugshot photo was taken for the first time for the arrest record. While Georgia adopted the practice not followed by other courts, Trump made history as the first former president to have a mugshot photo taken and fingerprints given in the country’s history. After the procedures, Trump paid his $200,000 (approximately 5.2 million Turkish liras) bail and was released from prison.
Underneath the mugshot photo, the former president wrote “ELECTION INTERFERENCE!, NEVER SURRENDER!” and directed his more than 86 million followers on Twitter to the WinRed donation page. The donation campaign’s message stated, “Today, I was arrested at the infamous prison in Fulton County, Georgia, known for its violent incidents, despite not having committed any crimes.”
In 2022, Trump sent the same message to his six million followers on Truth Social, the alternative social media platform he launched. While Trump had initially been banned for life from Twitter due to allegations of inciting violence during the January 6 Capitol attack, Elon Musk lifted this ban. At the end of the day, Trump’s return to Twitter with such an interesting topic was indeed intriguing.
Including the statement “If you can, please contribute to getting Fraudulent Joe Biden out of the White House and helping to SAVE AMERICA in this dark time of our nation’s history.” in his donation campaign, Trump is now aiming for re-election in 2024. He appears determined to continue his campaign in this regard.
