Susan Wojcicki, who was among Google’s first employees and served as YouTube CEO for 9 years, passed away today. Wojcicki, who actively worked at Google from 1998 to 2023 and rose to the top positions, passed away at the age of 56.

The sad news came today for Susan Wojcicki, who served as YouTube CEO between 2014 and 2023. Susan Wojcicki, who saddened her loved ones with the statements made by Google CEO Sundar Pichai and her husband Dennis Troper, passed away due to lung cancer at the age of 56.

Wojcicki, who joined the Google family in 1998, is actually one of Google’s oldest employees. Susan Wojcicki, who pioneered the establishment of the company in her own garage, then started working as the search engine’s first marketing manager. Wojcicki, who took the first steps of Google with co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, led the launch of Google Video in 2005 and the acquisition of YouTube in 2006.

Susan Wojcicki, who took over as YouTube CEO in 2014 due to her outstanding work, resigned in 2023 due to reasons such as family, health and personal projects. Wojcicki, who went through a difficult period with the news of her son earlier this year, had been battling lung cancer for a while.
