Epic Games will be taking their mega-popular battle royale title Fortnite offline next week to bring in a massive update ushering in Chapter 5, Season 4.

Dubbed “Absolute Doom”, the new season will focus heavily on Marvel once again. According to recent teasers from Epic, Doctor Doom himself will take center stage as the main villain. New locales based on Doctor Doom’s Castle Doom and city of Doomstadt are also planned.
To accommodate the large patch required to implement these significant changes, Epic will be taking the Fortnite servers offline on August 15th at 11pm ET/9pm PT for an anticipated five hours of downtime. Those in other regions like Asia should expect the same maintenance window to start on August 16th at 11am HKT.
When Fortnite returns following the update, players can look forward to fresh new seasons offering further integration with the X-Men and additional heroes and villains from the Marvel universe. Gameplay tweaks and balances are also in the cards.
It remains to be seen exactly what new abilities, weapons and mechanics Doctor Doom will bring to the island. But with such a major baddie at the story’s forefront, Fortnite’s ever-evolving world is primed for another season of superpowered antics and exciting crossovers. Only time will tell what absolute doom truly has in store!
