Epic Games has officially released the highly anticipated Fortnite Chapter 7: Pacific Break update. The company launched this new era immediately following the Chapter 6: Zero Hour finale, which saw 10.5 million players participate in-game and over 3 million follow via live streams. With the new season, the landing mechanics on Golden Coast island are completely changed; instead of jumping from the classic Battle Bus, players now reach the island by “Storm Surfing.” The new map, notable for its sunny atmosphere, can be explored by land vehicles and hot air balloons. The map features brand new areas to explore, including Battlewood Boulevard, Wonkeeland, Sandy Strip, and Classified Canyon.
Fortnite new season is live: Marty McFly and Kill Bill surprise
On the gameplay front, there are revolutionary innovations that will change the course of the game. Players can now use the self-revival device (DBNO) to get back up after being knocked down without needing a teammate. Furthermore, downed players are no longer as vulnerable as before; They can roll to escape enemy fire, run with energy, use ziplines, and even ride in vehicles as passengers. Drivable revival caravans are among the strategic innovations added to the game. Players who defeat bosses like Human Bill or Beach Brutus on the map gain their powers and loot, gaining full health, shields, and special abilities. However, this power makes your location constantly visible to opponents.
The game economy has also taken a significant step to ensure competitiveness and fairness. Gold bars no longer carry over from one match to the next; this means you must spend the gold you earn before the match ends to revive teammates or purchase items from vending machines. Epic Games has also introduced the ability to drop gold from the inventory to allow players to share resources. Technical improvements include updated hit markers, ammo status indicators for weapons in the inventory, autofocus in spectator mode, and the ability to aim while jumping.
A comprehensive update has also been made to the weapon variety and use. Epic Games states that the new weapons offer much more responsive response, and reload progress is recorded when the magazine is fully depleted. Among the newly added weapons are the heavily damaged Iron Pump Shotgun, the dual-wielding Twin Hammer Shotguns, the electric shock-delivering Arc-Lightning Gun, and the scoped Deadeye Assault Rifle. The Wingsuit, this season’s standout item, allows players to glide across the island. Popular vehicles like the All Terrain Kart and some older items like the Shockwave Grenade are also returning from the vault.
Finally, the Battle Pass introduces legendary icons of pop culture to the game. Players can embark on a quest for vengeance as The Bride from Kill Bill or represent the future as Marty McFly from the Back to the Future series. Special content created in collaboration with Quentin Tarantino is also scheduled to premiere during the season. These radical changes to Fortnite, especially the self-revive mechanic, are likely to significantly alter the game’s balance.
