Epic Games Continues the Fortnite Battle
Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney announced that Fortnite and all other Epic Games titles have been removed from the Samsung Galaxy Store.
As of today, new users will no longer be able to download Fortnite and other Epic Games titles via the Galaxy Store on Galaxy phones and tablets. However, Sweeney assured that Epic will continue to support users who have previously downloaded the games through the Galaxy Store, both now and in the future.
Samsung introduced a new security feature called Auto Blocker with One UI 6.0, which prevents the use of APKs and third-party app stores when enabled. With One UI 6.1.1, this feature has been set as the default.
Epic Games has been fighting a legal battle for years to force Apple and Google to allow sideloading and third-party app stores. As Epic continues to rely on app stores like the App Store, Google Play, and Galaxy Store, it must also adhere to their commission rates.
When Apple and Google banned Fortnite from their app stores, the Galaxy Store was one of the few places where Fortnite could still be installed on smartphones. Since then, Epic Games and Samsung had collaborated on various Fortnite-related issues. However, it seems that Epic Games has now added Samsung to its list of battlefronts.
