As the demand for artificial intelligence technologies grows rapidly, hardware manufacturers are making huge investments to meet this need. Foxconn, the world’s largest electronics manufacturer, is building a massive factory in Mexico for Nvidia’s next-generation artificial intelligence chip.
Foxconn is building the world’s largest AI chip plant for Nvidia
Foxconn has announced that it will build the world’s largest manufacturing facility for Nvidia’s next-generation artificial intelligence chip, the GB200. The factory in Mexico will have a “very large” chip packaging capacity, according to Foxconn Vice President Benjamin Ting.
The GB200 chip will be a key component of Nvidia’s Blackwell computing platform for artificial intelligence applications. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the company has started shipping samples of its new Blackwell chips to partners and expects to generate “millions of dollars” in revenue this quarter.
The Foxconn executive said that the demand for Nvidia’s AI technology is huge and that every customer wants the Blackwell platform. Speaking on the matter, Foxconn President Young Liu said that the infrastructure of the Mexico facility was designed taking into account the liquid cooling and heat dissipation required for the GB200 chip.
The construction of the new facility highlights the strategic partnership between Foxconn and Nvidia to power AI operations. The Mexico plant will also strengthen Foxconn’s position in electronics manufacturing.
