NVIDIA has announced that Reflex 2 low latency technology, announced with the RTX 50 series of graphics cards, will initially only support next-gen cards. NVIDIA Reflex 2 will first be supported in The Finals and Valorant.

In fact, the technology aims to optimize the data flow between the CPU and GPU to reduce input lag by 75%. Announced at CES 2025, Reflex 2 is said to be more efficient than NVIDIA’s previous Reflex 1 technology. While Reflex 1 reduced latency by simplifying the CPU-generated render queue, Reflex 2 will render mouse movements directly through the GPU, providing a more synchronized experience with the game image.

However, Reflex 2 technology is currently only supported for RTX 50 series graphics cards. It’s unclear whether NVIDIA will offer support for RTX 20, 30 and 40 series graphics cards. According to the company’s developer documentation, Reflex 2 technology requires the graphics card driver to be updated to version 570 or newer.

NVIDIA said that Reflex 2 is not currently actively supported in any games, but popular e-sports games such as The Finals and Valorant will soon adapt to this technology. Especially in competitive games, where even milliseconds of latency can make a big difference, the 75% latency reduction offered by Reflex 2 will be a huge advantage for professional gamers.

It remains to be seen whether NVIDIA’s next-generation latency reduction technology will come to other graphics cards and how quickly it will be adopted by game developers. Do you think it’s the right strategy to offer Reflex 2 only for the RTX 50 series? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below…
