Free VPN service is coming to Microsoft Edge

Ana sayfa / News

Microsoft Edge, one of the most used internet browsers in the world, is taking a step that will cheer its users. A VPN-like service will be added to Microsoft Edge. The name of this service will be Microsoft Edge Secure Network. Here are the details…

Microsoft Edge VPN’s “free” monthly usage limit is only 1 GB

Last year, a Cloudflare partnership was established for Microsoft Edge under the name “Secure Network”. The infrastructure arising from this partnership has recently started to be activated for some users. The built-in VPN will start to be officially sent to everyone soon. The Microsoft Edge built-in VPN is offered to users for free, but there is a limit here. The VPN’s monthly “free” usage limit is only 1 GB. For over 1 GB usage, Microsoft will sell special packages, but no clear price information has been shared yet.

The Secure Network infrastructure, which will have “Selected Sites”, “Optimized” and “All Sites” options, can be set to work only on certain sites. The system, which can also be activated for each site entered if desired, will be activated in very necessary situations using Microsoft’s algorithm in “optimized” mode.

The system, which will automatically select servers in the user’s region for secure operation, is not a first in the browser world. Opera is already among the names that offer free VPN in the browser. The next generation of Microsoft Edge is built on the same infrastructure as Google Chrome. In this respect, the Edge is now at least as fast as Chrome and uses less RAM/system.

In addition, many people find Edge more secure than Chrome. However, it is Microsoft that really makes Edge stand out. The company has been aggressively advertising the Microsoft Edge browser on Windows operating systems with millions of users. In fact, as it was revealed today, the company has even started advertising on Chrome’s download page. This is really interesting.
