WhatsApp will no longer work on some older Android devices as of January 1, 2025. WhatsApp will stop working on these smartphones from January 1, 2025
There are about 20 smartphone models that will lose support. Although we don’t see these models much anymore, there is still an audience that uses them. This is because these models were released in the early 2010s and were very popular at the time. Here are the devices that will be excluded from support:
- Samsung: Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Ace 3, Galaxy S4 Mini
- Motorola: Moto G (1st Generation), Razr HD, Moto E 2014
- HTC: One X, One X+, Desire 500, Desire 601
- LG: Optimus G, Nexus 4, G2 Mini, L90
- Sony: Xperia Z, Xperia SP, Xperia T, Xperia V
All of these devices are about 10 years old and unfortunately are now considered “old” in the tech world. So, what should users do? We recommend that users with these devices urgently backup their chats to avoid losing WhatsApp messaging history. You can follow these steps to make a chat backup:
- Go to WhatsApp Settings.
- Click on Chats > Chat Backup.
- Back up your chats by pressing the Backup button.
