Europe’s biggest gaming week kicks off August 19 with Gamescom 2025 Opening Night Live, followed by the Future Games Show and major showcases from Xbox and Bethesda. Not every secret is out yet, but plenty is — and these six titles have our attention.
The Outer Worlds 2 steps back into the spotlight
Obsidian’s satirical space RPG is set to return in October, and Gamescom will offer a theater demo inside one of its corporate-run dystopias. Expect lavish interiors, tangled propaganda, and maybe more absurd weaponry — like the drone-spawning ad blaster from the first game.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword sharpens its edge
Capcom’s revival of the samurai action series wowed at Summer Game Fest, but only behind closed doors. Gamescom could finally deliver public gameplay, showing off its wide camera, group combat, and defensive swordplay that feels closer to Ghost of Tsushima than a soulslike.
Silent Hill F drifts out of the fog
Konami’s next horror entry trades Western grit for Japanese dread, with story elements from Ryukishi07 and visuals by Spirit Hunter artist Kera. A fresh trailer will drop during Opening Night Live, setting the stage before its September release.
World of Warcraft: Midnight courts nostalgia
Blizzard will unveil a new cinematic for Midnight, the next WoW expansion. Long-teased story beats — including the ruin and rebirth of Burning Crusade-era cities — could share the screen with long-awaited features like player housing.
Resident Evil Requiem stalks Raccoon City
Capcom promises an exclusive look at its FBI-tinged sequel, starring analyst Grace Ashcroft. Offering both first and third-person views, Requiem returns to the city that started it all, blending franchise history with fresh perspectives.
Hollow Knight: Silksong finally lands
Playable at both Nintendo and Xbox booths, Team Cherry’s long-awaited sequel is set to arrive before 2025 closes. Gamescom might finally drop the real release date, possibly with Geoff Keighley teeing it up with that “I know you’ve been waiting” grin.
More games to watch for
Beyond the big six, expect glimpses of Borderlands 4, Ninja Gaiden 4, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Pragmata, Where Winds Meet, Little Nightmares 3, the Lords of the Fallen sequel, and Cronos: The New Dawn.
Gamescom thrives on spectacle and this year’s lineup looks built to overload the senses.
