FromSoftware Vetoes Bloodborne Remake Project
Disappointing news has emerged for gamers eagerly awaiting the Bloodborne Remake project. A recent report reveals that a proposal from Bluepoint Games to remake the legendary title was ultimately blocked by the original developer, FromSoftware, despite being financially viable for Sony.
Why Was the Bloodborne Remake Project Rejected?
According to a report by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, remake specialist Bluepoint Games presented a comprehensive proposal to Sony in early 2025. While Sony reportedly found the offer financially sound, the project hit a significant roadblock: FromSoftware. The original creators of Bloodborne were unwilling to let another studio handle their iconic game, leading them to halt the process.
Miyazaki’s Protective Stance on His Work
This decision aligns with previous statements from former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida. In an interview last year, Yoshida mentioned that director Hidetaka Miyazaki deeply loves the world of Bloodborne but is currently too busy to lead a remake himself. Furthermore, Yoshida noted that the acclaimed director is not keen on “other hands touching” his creation. Respecting Miyazaki’s decision, Sony’s management ultimately shelved the project.
The Long Wait for Fans Continues
The wait for a new Bloodborne experience continues for the game’s passionate fanbase. The original remains one of Sony’s top-selling titles in the US, and FromSoftware has previously gauged fan interest through surveys. However, the studio’s current workload and protective stance suggest a remake is unlikely in the near future. Additionally, with the recent closure of Bluepoint Games, the chances of this dream becoming a reality have become even slimmer.
