In the early months of the year, Samsung took a major step with the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series and One UI update. Previously, flagship Galaxy devices received two years of operating system updates and four years of security updates. With the S24 series, they now have gained seven years of update support. Here are the Galaxy phones and tablets that will receive seven years of updates:
Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 will also receive seven years of updates.
While the success of the Galaxy S24 series in breaking sales records can be attributed to its Galaxy AI features, the extended seven-year update support has also played a significant role. Previously, the biennial update cuts left users without new features for a period of time. With this move by Samsung, the new flagships will now receive Android updates and accompanying updates for seven years.
Although there has been no official statement from the tech giant, it is claimed that all future flagship devices to be introduced will come with seven years of update support. This feature will not apply to phones introduced before January 2024, and for now, it seems applicable to the S24 series, Z Fold 6, and Z Flip models.
Here are the Galaxy devices that will receive seven years of Android and One UI updates:
- Galaxy S24
- Galaxy S24+
- Galaxy S24 Ultra
- Galaxy Z Fold 6
- Galaxy Z Flip 6
