Samsung’s Galaxy XR mixed reality (XR) glasses, launched last month, have garnered significant attention in the tech world, and recent reports suggest the device will have an even broader reach in the global market next year. The most interesting development is Samsung’s launch of the Galaxy Ring smart ring for navigating the headset’s interface.
Ease of Use with Ring Gestures
A code string found in the latest update to the Galaxy Ring Manager app for Android reveals the upcoming ring gesture for glasses. The word “glasses” in the code suggests that this feature is intended not only for the Galaxy XR headset but also for Samsung’s future Galaxy XR glasses. However, it’s exciting that such a control method, which would add additional functionality to the Galaxy Ring, is being developed.
Implementing this feature shouldn’t be difficult, as you can already control your phone using the Galaxy Ring (for example, taking photos or silencing alarms with a double pinch gesture).
A Samsung patent that surfaced earlier this year described the ring being able to control multiple displays, and now the company appears serious about turning this concept into reality. The Galaxy Ring’s gesture-based control will allow users to navigate XR environments more intuitively and effortlessly, further integrating and further facilitating Samsung’s wearable ecosystem.
