While it has been a few months after the launch of the latest flagship series, Galaxy S23, the leaks about the next generation of the S series are revealing day by day. Now, the details about the Galaxy S24 series processor leaked. According to the claims, the South Korean phone manufacturer will prefer the popular chipset company, Qualcomm, for its next-generation Galaxy S series. Here are the details about the Galaxy S24 chipset…
Galaxy S24 will have the upcoming Snapdragon processor
Samsung made a great impact on the smartphone market with its Galaxy S23 series due to its processor. The company launched the S23 series with the modified Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy processor, which offers great performance and power efficiency. According to the leakers, Samsung will launch the Galaxy S24 series with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. Even though it is not clear yet, we can assume that the processor will also be modified the same as Gen 2.
The processor is expected to have model number SM8650 and codename Lanai or Pineapple. The upcoming chipset will have 1x ARM Cortex-X series ‘Gold+’ CPU core, 2x ARM Cortex-A7xx ‘Titanium’ CPU Cores, 3x ARM Cortex-A7xx ‘Gold’ CPU cores, and 2x ARM Cortex-A5xx ‘Silver’ CPU cores. There are no details about the clock speed of these CPU cores yet.
We know that Google is now working on 64-bit Android apps to improve the operating system. That’s why the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will not support 32-bit Android apps or games. Also, it won’t have any CPU core that can run 32-bit Android code. It is also expected to be an improved 4nm process from TSMC or a 3nm chipset from Samsung Foundry.
Additionally, the Galaxy S24 processor might feature the Adreno 750 GPU clocked at 770MHz. It will probably support Android 14 and Linux Kernel 6.1. According to the expectations, Samsung will prefer the modified version of the processor for the Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, Z Flip 6, and Z Fold 6.
