Samsung might not be ready to kill off the Galaxy S26 Plus after all. Despite earlier leaks suggesting the Plus model would be dropped from the upcoming S26 lineup, a new report out of Korea suggests it’s now back in development, thanks to underwhelming sales of the Galaxy S25 Edge.
Samsung shifts gears after S25 Edge stumbles
Originally, reports indicated Samsung would trim its flagship lineup to three devices: Galaxy S26 Pro, S26 Edge, and S26 Ultra. In that scenario, the S26 Pro would take the place of the base model, while the Edge would serve as a replacement for the Plus.
But according to The Elec, that plan may be changing. Internal sources claim Samsung paused development on the S26 Plus earlier this year. However, the lackluster commercial performance of the S25 Edge has reportedly pushed the company to resume development of the Plus model.
Galaxy S26 lineup could now feature four models
If Samsung follows through, the Galaxy S26 series may now launch with four separate models:
- Galaxy S26 Pro
- Galaxy S26 Plus
- Galaxy S26 Edge
- Galaxy S26 Ultra
While nothing has been confirmed publicly, this internal shift suggests Samsung is re-evaluating how it positions its mid-tier flagship, especially as competition tightens in the $800–$1,000 range.
Final lineup likely set within months
Samsung typically unveils its Galaxy S series in January or February, meaning the S26 lineup is only about four months out. Given that timeline, it’s unlikely major changes will occur from this point forward. That makes the S26 Plus’s reappearance feel more like a strategic course correction than a placeholder rumor.
Still, nothing is final until the official announcement. But for fans of the Plus model who felt left behind? There’s now a very real chance it’s back on the table.
