It turns out that Samsung’s highly anticipated flagship phone won’t make the expected leap in charging speed. A new certification document confirms that the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s wired charging speed will once again be limited to 45W. This disproves previous rumors that it would increase to 60W. Here are the details.
Galaxy S26 Ultra’s charging speed won’t increase
A document obtained by China’s Quality Certification Center indicates that the device supports 10V/4.5A or 15V/3A charging. These figures are identical to the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Since models sold in China generally carry Samsung’s highest specifications, it’s unlikely there will be any difference in the global versions. Other models in the series won’t see a similar improvement, and the Galaxy S26 Pro and S26 Edge are expected to remain at 25W charging speed.
This situation, particularly in a market where flagship models from Chinese brands like Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, and OnePlus offer charging speeds of 100W or higher, leaves Samsung lagging behind. While Samsung focuses on factors like battery health and user safety in this area, competitors are pushing the limits on speed.
Considering that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will retain its 5,000mAh battery, no change in charging times is expected.
Leaked information also suggests that the S26 Ultra’s 3x optical zoom camera will be a step down with a smaller sensor. All this information could make the S26 Ultra feel like an update, not significantly different from its predecessor, simply to maintain the annual cycle.
