Galaxy S26 Ultra wired charging upgraded, but base models stay the same

A new leak has pulled back the curtain on one of the Galaxy S26 series’ most anticipated features wired charging speeds and the news is a mixed bag. While the Galaxy S26 Ultra is tipped for a major power bump, the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Plus are sticking to their older speeds.

According to leaker @TheGalox_ on X, Samsung plans to boost the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s wired charging to 60W, up from the 45W limit on the previous Ultra model. That’s a welcome change for power users who want faster top-ups without sacrificing battery capacity. Combined with the rumored 5,000mAh battery, this upgrade could make the Ultra one of Samsung’s fastest-charging flagships yet.

Asus ROG Phone 10 leak confirms the gaming phone isn’t dead

Asus ROG Phone 10 leak confirms the gaming phone series is still alive, with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and high refresh rate returning.

Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the Galaxy S26 or Galaxy S26 Plus. The leak confirms these two models will retain their 25W and 45W wired charging speeds, respectively. It’s a noticeable omission at a time when rival brands are offering faster options even on their base-tier phones.

While 25W may sound underwhelming on paper, Samsung still holds its own in real-world tests. A GSMArena benchmark, cited by the leaker, showed that the Galaxy S25 with a 4,000mAh battery charged quicker than the iPhone 17, despite the iPhone offering 35W charging. The upcoming Galaxy S26, which reportedly bumps battery capacity to 4,300mAh, is expected to maintain or even improve this advantage.

Wired charging aside, all three S26 models are getting faster wireless charging:

While these gains aren’t game-changing, they show Samsung is at least giving attention to wireless performance across the board.

Compared to competitors like OnePlus, which offers up to 120W wired charging on the OnePlus 15, Samsung’s standard models continue to lag. OnePlus even includes a charger in the box something Samsung hasn’t done for several generations. For users who value speed above all, that difference could matter.

Galaxy S26 charging story is all about the Ultra

With no wired charging upgrade for the base and Plus models, Samsung is putting the spotlight squarely on the Ultra as its performance leader. It’s a classic play and while it’s frustrating for some, the strategy is consistent: if you want the best, expect to pay for it.
