We are only one day away from Samsung’s highly anticipated Galaxy Unpacked event, which is expected to be the company’s second-largest event of the year. During tomorrow’s event, Samsung is set to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold6, Z Flip6, Galaxy Ring, Watch 7, Watch Ultra, and the Galaxy Buds 3 series. Notably, the new BioActive health sensor will be introduced with the Watch 7 series. Here’s what we know about the Galaxy Watch BioActive sensor…
Galaxy Watch Ultra to Offer More Detailed Results with BioActive Sensor
The Galaxy Watch series, known for its standout health features, will deliver more effective and precise results with the new BioActive sensor. According to Samsung’s announcement and the promotional video they shared, the BioActive sensor comes with three major updates, including improved health measurements. Enhancements include better photodiode performance, the addition of new LED colors, and optimal arrangement of these components.
Samsung’s improvements have doubled the efficiency of each photodiode in the BioActive sensor, reducing their number from eight to four, thus making room for a greater variety of LEDs. The new BioActive sensor includes blue, yellow, violet, and ultraviolet LEDs, in addition to green, red, and infrared LEDs, allowing for more precise health measurements.
Thanks to the new LEDs, the Galaxy Watch Ultra will offer increased accuracy and performance in various health metrics such as heart rate, sleep quality, blood pressure, blood oxygen levels, and stress levels. Specifically, heart rate measurement during exercises is expected to be 30% more accurate than before.
Another feature of the Galaxy Watch BioActive sensor is its ability to provide an Advanced Glycation End-products (AGEs) index, which is an indicator of metabolic health and biological aging influenced by lifestyle and dietary habits. The Galaxy Watch Ultra, anticipated to be Samsung’s top-tier smartwatch, will be available in 40mm and 44mm size options.
