The GTA 6 parody game, Grand Taking Ages, which was removed from the PlayStation Store by Sony, is preparing to return to Steam. Developer Violarte has officially announced that the game will be released on Steam in July 2025 after reducing its similarities to GTA 6. The Game Makes Strong References to the GTA Series!
Grand Taking Ages, which first appeared on the PlayStation Store in December 2024, drew attention for its references to Rockstar’s much-anticipated GTA 6. The game’s main theme was mocking the chaos and delays in the game development process, but because it contained explicit references to the GTA series, Sony quickly removed it from its store.
After Sony’s removal, the game received approval to be re-listed on Steam with a new version. Violarte stated that the new version for Steam would reduce direct references to GTA 6 by removing the ‘6’ from the title and making changes to the game’s overall visuals.
According to the developer team, the Steam version will still maintain a humorous tone, but the explicit references to GTA 6 will be minimized. Phrases from the previous PlayStation release, such as “Unlike other developers, we actually stick to our release date,” will no longer be used.
Violarte also mentioned that they expect the game to return to the PlayStation Store with a new application, but they have confirmed that it will definitely release on Steam in July 2025.
While Rockstar is expected to launch Grand Theft Auto 6 in the fall of 2025, Grand Taking Ages is expected to launch before then to provide its critiques of the gaming industry.
