AMD Ryzen owners running Windows 11 are experiencing performance degradation in many games. New research on Zen 4 and Zen 5 processors shows performance drops of up to 10 percent due to a bug in Windows 11.

Benchmarking by various YouTube channels has revealed that a new bug discovered in Windows 11 is degrading the gaming performance of AMD Ryzen models. It was stated that AMD owners experienced performance drops of up to 10 percent.

The problem in Windows 11 affects AMD Zen 4 and next-generation Zen 5 architectures. Various studies revealed that the Zen 5-based Ryzen 7 9700X suffered a performance drop of up to 10 percent in Hogwarts Legacy due to the bug. Cyberpunk 2077 performance dropped around 6 percent on Ryzen 7 7700X and Ryzen 7 9700X.

A new era in AI performance tests has begun!

Version 1.0 of Geekbench AI, a tool for testing artificial intelligence operations for mobile and PC, is now available.

Performance drops varied depending on the game being tested. However, benchmarks also showed that there are some settings in Windows 11 that can help mitigate the effects of the bug. Accordingly, enabling admin mode in Windows 11 resulted in a 3 percent performance boost on the Ryzen 7 9700X and 3 percent on the Ryzen 7 7700X.

Introduced with the Zen 5 architecture, the Ryzen 9000 series has received a lot of criticism since launch. Gamers have reported lag between CPU cores on the 12-core and 16-core models, saying that performance is not as good as expected.

AMD has acknowledged the issue and said it will release a software update to fix it. For now, however, Ryzen users are likely to experience performance losses in Windows 11.
