Germany push for e-fuel exemption in EU’s 2035 vehicle ban

Ana sayfa / News

The European Union wants to end the diesel and gasoline vehicle ban discussion with a new step they have taken. This issue has been on the agenda for a long time. For those who missed it, the sale of “new” diesel and gasoline cars within the EU countries was not approved in 2035.

After the EU’s ban in 2035, electric + E-Fuel vehicles with internal combustion engines can be used

The European Commission, which drafted the regulation with negotiators from EU countries and the European Parliament, agreed last year that manufacturers must reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 100 percent by 2035. The process was approved in recent months. This makes it impossible to sell new fossil fuel-powered vehicles in the EU in 2035. But before the infrastructure could become law, there was a last-minute obstacle.

Germany and Italy are the two of the countries with the strongest automotive industries in Europe. Germany and Italy said they wanted protection for synthetic fuels in the process. So the vote to legalize the process was postponed until a later date. Germany believes that it is necessary to open Europe to all technologies and that internal combustion vehicles can be made greener with appropriate fuels. Last week, it was reported that the European Union is working to set an E-Fuel exemption for the 2035 deadline due to demand from Germany and Italy. The step would extend the exemption for vehicles with internal combustion engines using E-Fuel beyond 2035.

Also, this step was aimed at getting Germany and Italy to accept the grand plan permanently. As it emerged today, the authorities and Germany have reached an agreement. A common vision for the future has finally been agreed. So, thanks to this latest agreement, after 2035, vehicles with an internal combustion engine using electric + E-Fuel fuel will be able to be used together. What are your thoughts about this issue?
