Paramount Pictures has released the new trailer for Gladiator 2. This shows that the iconic movie will be revived years later. The new movie will take place years after the death of the main character Maximus.
Gladiator 2 hits theaters on November 22
The character Lucius, played by Paul Mescal, will witness the death of his father as a child and will have to fight for survival in the Roman Empire. The trailer shows the challenges Lucius faces as a gladiator and the new enemy Macrinus, played by Denzel Washington.
With Ridley Scott once again in the director’s chair, the movie explores Lucius’ personal revenge as well as the power of the Roman Empire. The trailer showcases the action-packed gladiator fights and epic scenes from the first movie.
In addition to Denzel Washington and Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal will also star in the new production. The famous actor, who will play a general named Marcus Acacius, has so far preferred to remain silent about the movie.
Released in 2000, Gladiator was a huge success at the box office and won five Oscars, including Best Picture. Gladiator 2 is expected to have the same success. The movie is already seen as an Oscar nominee. In fact, if Denzel Washington is nominated, it will be his 11th Oscar nomination.
Gladiator 2 will be released in theaters only on November 22nd. We will see in time how successful it will be.
