Gladiator 3 is already being talked about: Famous director Ridley Scott is preparing to return to the Gladiator universe, which made a huge impact in the world of cinema years ago. Gladiator 2, the sequel to the legendary Gladiator released in 2000, will meet the audience next month.
Gladiator 3 could arrive in 2026!
Before Gladiator 2 has even been released, the director has already started preparations for the third film, revealing that he is working on the script. In an interview with Total Film, Ridley Scott stated that he already has an eight-page draft script for Gladiator 3.
“If we do Gladiator 3, I don’t think we’ll be returning to the arena. However, this time, I had to return to the arena,” said the director, hinting that the new film may take place in a different atmosphere than the previous ones.
Unlike the first film, which is remembered for its iconic arena scenes, the third film is expected to feature a different narrative, sparking great curiosity among viewers.
Paul Mescal will take over the story from Russell Crowe in Gladiator 2, portraying the character Lucius Verus. Lucius is known as one of the few characters who survived the first film. According to Scott, by the end of the second film, Lucius may have to rule the Roman Empire.
Scott hinted that the ending of Gladiator 2 would be similar to The Godfather. Just as Michael Corleone found himself in charge of a business he didn’t want, Lucius will have to face unwanted power after his battles in the arena, offering a small ‘spoiler’ to the audience.
Gladiator 2 will hit theaters on November 22, 2024. Whether Lucius survives in the arena, his fate on the path to empire, and how this grand adventure unfolds are eagerly awaited by viewers.
