Godfather director Francis Ford to end career with ‘unique’ film

Ana sayfa / News

Francis Ford Coppola, who gained worldwide popularity with the Godfather series, may lose more than 100 million dollars because of his last film Megalopolis. But despite this, the legendary director says that he still has two films to shoot before he can say for sure that he is retired.

Coppola emphasises that he will finance both films himself and continues to work on these projects without slowing down. The director, who aims to end his career with a ‘unique’ film, is already creating great impatience among his fans.

Francis Ford Coppola, when asked on Instagram if he wanted to retire, said that he absolutely did not know and that he still had two films to shoot before ending his career. In particular, he stated that Distant Vision, which will be the last film of his career, will be bigger than Megalopolis and that this film will be ‘enormous’.

In a recent interview, Coppola stated that Distant Vision, which he is still working on, will be ‘shot entirely live’ and will be ‘much more difficult’ to make than Megalopolis.

The director first worked on Distant Vision in 2015 as a live cinema performance for three weeks on a 6,000 square metre stage on the campus of Oklahoma City Community College. Coppola said he pioneered ‘a new art form’ with this work.

Netflix confirms new seasons for two popular series

Good news for fans of The Diplomat and Nobody Wants This! Netflix has given new season approval for two popular series.

Let’s say that Distant Vision will not be Coppola’s next film. The experienced filmmaker is currently working on Glimpses of the Moon, a musical adaptation of Edith Wharton’s novel and inspired by Leo McCarey’s The Awful Truth.

For Francis Ford Coppola, who will turn 86 in April, retirement still seems a little far away. The director will probably be 90 when Distant Vision is released.

What do you think about Coppola’s unusual retirement project?
