Google banned performance benchmarking apps for Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro!

Ana sayfa / Smartphones

Google has banned the installation of comparison apps, such as 3D Mark and Geekbench, for Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro users. Company no longer wants Pixel 8 to participate in performance measurements conducted by these applications.

Why are Pixel 8’s performance data being hidden?

As you may know, apps like AnTuTu, 3D Mark, and Geekbench allow users to measure the CPU and GPU performance of devices. Users can compare their device’s performance with many other models using the results. However, Google has decided that it doesn’t want the Pixel 8 series to participate in these comparisons anymore.

Google Pixel 8 series, powered by the much-anticipated Tensor G3 processor, came under scrutiny recently when it was claimed that it didn’t meet the expected performance levels. The Tensor G3 processor, which was compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 before the launch, fell behind the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in performance tests conducted after the launch, despite having 9 cores.

It seems that Google, uncomfortable with this situation, has restricted users’ access to performance comparison applications. This means that applications like Geekbench, AnTuTu, and 3D Mark cannot be downloaded on Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro models anymore.

Google’s move raises questions about the Tensor G3 processor. What do you think about Google’s decision to ban comparison apps? Do you believe the performance of the Google Pixel 8 series is genuinely insufficient? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
