Thanks to the new high-quality text-to-speech feature provided by Google, internet pages can be followed as if they were audio books. Google has started testing this new feature through Chrome Canary, which is currently available to developers. The text-to-speech feature, which is still in the testing phase, was shared by a browser expert named Leopeva64. In the shared image, the small play button stands out, allowing the browser to read the article out loud for you.
The video shared by Leopeva64 on Reddit clearly shows that this feature is not yet fully ready. The voice generated by the text-to-speech feature is quite robotic. It’s surprising to see such robotic narration from Google, a company that has invested heavily in artificial intelligence and voice technology and has many models.
On the other hand, the primitiveness of this feature in its current developmental stage is quite understandable. We believe that in the future, Google will present its text-to-speech feature in a much more advanced form.
