The reading mode offered in internet browsers is a quite useful feature that allows you to follow content without disruptive ads. While many popular browsers have had this feature for a long time, Google Chrome has recently started offering the reading mode.

Google Chrome gains text-to-speech feature

Google Chrome, which has been slower to introduce the reading mode compared to its competitors, has now rolled up its sleeves to narrow the gap. The popular internet browser is preparing to introduce a text-to-speech feature in the reading mode.

Thanks to the new high-quality text-to-speech feature provided by Google, internet pages can be followed as if they were audio books. Google has started testing this new feature through Chrome Canary, which is currently available to developers. However, it’s worth mentioning that this feature already exists in many internet browsers.

Users are delighted: Beloved Safari feature is coming to Google Chrome!

With iOS 15, the bottom search bar introduced in Safari, which many users loved, is now coming to Chrome as well. Here are the details...

The text-to-speech feature, which is still in the testing phase, was shared by a browser expert named Leopeva64. In the shared image, the small play button stands out, allowing the browser to read the article out loud for you.

The video shared by Leopeva64 on Reddit clearly shows that this feature is not yet fully ready. The voice generated by the text-to-speech feature is quite robotic. It’s surprising to see such robotic narration from Google, a company that has invested heavily in artificial intelligence and voice technology and has many models.

On the other hand, the primitiveness of this feature in its current developmental stage is quite understandable. We believe that in the future, Google will present its text-to-speech feature in a much more advanced form.

Google Chrome is trying to keep up with its competitors by adding features to the reading mode. What are your thoughts on Google Chrome’s new text-to-speech feature? Feel free to share your opinions with us in the comments section.
