While Google Assistant users can choose from about a dozen different voices, Google Gemini, the AI-powered assistant likely to replace Google Assistant, has only had one voice until now. However, it seems that Google is preparing to add a new voice option.
A Female Voice for Google Gemini
About a month ago, it was discovered that Google was working on a new voice setting for Gemini. At that time, this feature was non-functional and offered the ability to choose between two voices. However, it was unclear if this new feature was specifically for Gemini since it differed from Google Assistant’s voice settings.
Recent code insights from both Google Assistant and Gemini indicate that a new voice option for the AI model is on the way. Initially, Google Gemini only had a male voice (even though Google Gemini identifies as gender-neutral). The new voice option will be a female voice, expected to be available worldwide soon.
Although this update isn’t a major change, it is considered a welcome development for digital assistants. The ability to choose the speaking voice of digital assistants has become a standard feature. Thus, having more personalization options for a model like Google Gemini, which also offers a subscription option, is advantageous.
