MediaTek has announced a partnership with Google to integrate Gemini Nano AI capabilities into its chipsets
Gemini Nano is Google’s mini AI model that enables smartphones to perform AI tasks such as text generation and voice processing without an internet connection. Gemini Nano, which gained multimodal support with its latest version, can understand multiple media types such as text and images.
MediaTek announced that its new chipset Dimensity 9400 will be the first chip to support Gemini Nano. The new processor is expected to power many flagship Android phones coming next year. However, MediaTek said that this feature will also come to other chipsets that support artificial intelligence.
Devices like the Galaxy Tab S10 powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ chipset will gain Gemini Nano support through software updates. This represents a significant step forward in on-device AI capabilities.
