Google, one of the companies making the biggest investment in the world of artificial intelligence, has made an interesting move. Google quietly removed the AI Test Kitchen application, which it made available to test artificial intelligence projects, from the Play Store and App Store. It also disabled the app for existing users.

AI Test Kitchen was introduced at last year’s Google I/O conference and began testing in the Play Store. Google’s aim with this application was to enable users to interact with and provide feedback on artificial intelligence projects developed by the company.
There were three different AI models in the AI Test Kitchen: Imagine It, List It and Talk About It. In addition, the MusicLM model, which makes it possible to generate audio from text, was added in recent weeks. With MusicLM, Google has turned the entire focus of the application to this area.
Shortly thereafter, Google removed the app from both the App Store and the Google Play Store. In a statement released by the company, it was confirmed that the app has been permanently retired. However, the web-based version of Test Kitchen will remain available.
The surprise closure of the app was surprising, given the world’s interest in artificial intelligence. Google did not provide an explanation as to why it canceled the app, which allowed users to easily access AI developments.
While the AI Test Kitchen on the web will continue to operate, the removal of the mobile app limits the testing of Google’s AI projects. This marks an unexpected departure from the company’s efforts to “liberate AI experimentation.”
