Along with Apple’s iOS 26 update released earlier this week, Google also released Chrome 141 for iPhones and iPads. This update includes several interface changes to adapt to iOS’s new Liquid Glass design language. Here are the details.
Chrome Switches to Liquid Glass Design with iOS 26
Chrome, which has a different interface from the Android version, first sees Liquid Glass effects in the Tabs section. In this section, Incognito Tabs, normal tab and tab group transitions, and the search bar have a new transparent, glass-like appearance.
Here are some of the new features:
- Context menus have been updated with a modern style that doesn’t blur the background.
- The edges of the drop-down menus at the bottom are more rounded and no longer extend from edge to edge. Menu items also retain these rounded shapes. The same design change is also visible in the Settings menu.
- The new tab loading indicator has been changed from the classic circle to iOS’s distinctive pinwheel style.
The new keyboard design introduced with iOS 26 has also been integrated into Chrome. In addition to the new, rounded keyboard design, Chrome’s long-standing extra row above the keyboard (which includes keys like voice search, Google Lens, and .com) is now a rectangular panel floating above the main keyboard.
It’s unclear how quickly other Google apps will adopt the Liquid Glass design. However, Chrome’s existing native interface suggests this rapid integration is possible. Other Google apps continue to use different design languages, such as Material Theme (Keep, Calendar, Tasks) and Material 3 (Gmail, Chat, Home, Maps). This suggests it may take some time for other apps to transition to this design.
