Google Chrome 115 offers API support to remove ad cookies
Privacy Sandbox, introduced by Google in 2019, was an initiative to eliminate browser cookies while allowing advertisers to target the right audience. The primary goal was to protect user privacy by restricting the amount of personal data that advertisers could access. This measure is now available with Google Chrome 115.
Support for the Privacy Sandbox API for Chrome 115 started this week. It will be gradually rolled out in August and will be available to all users by the end of the month. The testing process is scheduled to end in September. This means that Chrome will no longer use advertising cookies.
The Privacy Sandbox registration process for Chrome and Android developers is now open. While registration is currently voluntary, Google says it will soon be mandatory.
The software giant wants to completely eliminate third-party cookies by late next year. This planned removal aims to improve user privacy and at the same time enhance the online advertising experience.
