Google has removed Google Keep, a note-taking app that Apple Watch users have been using for a long time, from the watchOS platform. In version 2.2025.26200 of Google Keep, which was released on July 1, 2025, Apple Watch support for the app was discontinued.
Google Keep removed from Apple Watch
Google’s move came on the same day as the release of the Google Calendar app for Apple Watch. While the new calendar app became available to users, the Keep app, which had been working on the watch for years, was quietly pulled from the store. No official statement was made. The app can no longer be downloaded from Apple Watch with the new version, and existing installations do not work either.
Google Keep was released for Apple Watch in 2019. Although the app has not received any meaningful updates for years, it continued to meet users’ need to quickly view and access notes from the watch. The app, which does not have complication support, has maintained the same structure for a long time, from its icon to its interface.
This decision by Google is considered to be the result of an approach that Keep is no longer functional enough on Apple Watch. With the removal of the app, users can no longer access Keep notes via the watch. Alternatively, users can access notes via the iPhone, but Apple Watch support has completely ended.
On the other hand, Apple integrated its own Notes app onto the Apple Watch for the first time with the watchOS 26 update. This development provided an in-system solution for users who were more closely connected to the Apple ecosystem, while partially filling the gap left by the withdrawal of Google Keep.
While no official statement has been made by Google regarding the future of Google Keep, the Android and iOS versions of the app continue to be actively used. Apple Watch users cannot access Google Keep directly via the watch for now.
