Google makes it easier to follow news

Ana sayfa / News

Google is making news tracking more personalized and controlled with a new feature added to its search engine. This feature, called “Preferred Sources,” allows users to set their favorite news sites and prioritize content from these sites in search results.

With this new feature, when a current topic is searched on Google, news from previously selected sources becomes more visible in the “most read news” section.

This content can also be compiled in a separate section called “from your sources.” Google first tested this feature with a limited group of users in June. It is now generally available to users in the US and India.

Setting preferred sources is quite simple. You can mark favorite sites using the icon next to the “most read news” heading. Refreshing the page after marking reveals that the news listed largely comes from the selected sites. There are no site restrictions for the feature, and favorites established during the testing process are automatically transferred to the new version.

This system saves time, especially for users who want to follow current developments. Sources that users aren’t interested in or don’t consider trustworthy are relegated to the background, while frequently followed publications are highlighted.

Google aims to prevent users from getting lost in irrelevant content this way. It’s not yet known when the feature will be available globally.

Google has recently focused on transforming its Search service with AI-powered features. However, this new step is designed for users who maintain traditional news-following habits.
