A small group of users has started seeing Google Maps Live Updates on their phones. This feature pins navigation data directly to your screen using Android’s persistent notification system, so your directions don’t disappear when you switch apps.
It’s not widely available yet, but screenshots have emerged from both Pixel and Samsung devices running the Android 16 QPR2 beta.
What Live Updates actually do for navigation
