Online meetings have become a part of our lives in every aspect after the pandemic. Google introduced the On-the-Go mode for Google Meet to enable users to have more convenient online meetings. This feature allows users to join meetings more comfortably while walking.
Google Meet introduces “On-the-Go” mode
Google Meet has an interface that is difficult to control and distracting while on the move. Google acknowledges this issue and transitions to a more minimalist design. Users who switch to the On-the-Go mode can participate in meetings while on the move.
The new feature available in Google Meet offers a simple interface. Additionally, Google provides two options to enable the “On-the-Go” mode. If Meet detects that a user is walking using the phone’s motion sensors, it automatically switches to this mode. Alternatively, users can manually enable it.
When the “On-the-Go” mode is activated, Google Meet will turn off the user’s camera and will not display the videos of other participants. The interface will only provide functions such as mute, audio (switching between Bluetooth and speaker), and raise hand.
Users can switch back to the regular interface by pressing “Turn Off On-the-Go” when they are stationary again. Additionally, Google will automatically switch back when it detects that the user has stopped.
This innovative feature offers a significant improvement for users who have to join meetings while on the move. Initially, On-the-Go will be available only on Android, and it’s uncertain when it will be available for iOS.
