Google Meet Support Arrives for Apple CarPlay!

Ana sayfa / News

Google Meet has finally gained the long-awaited Apple CarPlay support for in-car systems. Users can now view their upcoming meetings and join calls directly from their vehicle’s dashboard. Interestingly, much like the recent ChatGPT integration, Google has prioritized Apple’s ecosystem, leaving Android Auto users waiting for a similar update.

Google Meet in Your Car: An Audio-Only Experience

To ensure driving safety, this integration offers a strictly audio-only experience. To prevent driver distraction, features such as video feeds, chat, polls, hand raising, and Q&A are disabled on the car’s display. While behind the wheel, users have limited controls: they can only mute/unmute their microphone or leave the meeting.

Rollout and Availability

The rollout for this feature began on March 23, 2026, and is now reaching all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and personal Google account holders. To use it, simply ensure you have the latest version of the Google Meet app installed on your iPhone and connect to a CarPlay-compatible vehicle.

While iPhone users enjoy this new productivity boost, Google has stated that an Android Auto version is “coming soon,” though no specific date has been provided yet.

With more professionals working remotely or while commuting, in-car meeting support is becoming a standard requirement. How safe do you find it to conduct meetings while driving, and which smartphone do you currently use for your daily commute? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Would you like me to research how to enable “On-the-Go” mode manually for better data saving or provide a comparison of Google Meet vs. Microsoft Teams features on CarPlay? Let me know!
