Google has started reorganizing its apps. Deciding to combine the video chat application called Duo with Meet a while ago, Google began sending notifications to Duo users. So what do Google Duo or Meet users need to do?
Google Meet will merge Google Duo by the end of 2022
The software giant has started sending notifications in the Duo app recently. Publishing a warning that “Duo will get even better,” Google said that the Duo application would change with a new name, new features, and a new icon. Thus, both video chat services will be combined in one application.
According to Google’s statement, Meet users will not be affected by this change. So Meet’s website and the app will be the same. However, with the merger of Duo and Meet, the Duo app and website will be connected to Meet.
Google has yet to give an official closing date, but it wants to move all Duo users to Meet by the end of 2022. In other words, as of 2023, this service will not be available, and all video chat capabilities will be transferred to Meet.
Also, the Meet app will be called “Meet Original” during this time and will be discontinued in the replacement of Duo. Google Duo, on the other hand, will receive all Meet features during this time. Google has previously made changes to G-Suite, which requires a premium subscription. Google Currents replaced Google’s business social media, Google+.
Google applications for business and free ones
Many Google apps are free to every Gmail user. However, there may be some differences in usage. Some privileges are available to customers with Google’s paid service G-Suite. Some of these are Drive storage (may vary depending on the G-Suite membership type), access to the Google Currents platform, and the freedom to choose a mail domain (yourpersonalid@companyname.com).
