Gemini update for Google Messages starts rolling out

Ana sayfa / AI

Gemini, announced at Google’s I/O 2024 event, was integrated into the Google Messages application and made widely available to make users’ messaging experience more efficient.

Gemini is a new chat assistant in Google Messages. Users will see Gemini as the first contact when they want to start a new chat. After agreeing to some terms, users are redirected to a standard messaging interface. This interface includes emoji and gallery options, but there is no option to send voice notes.

Gemini allows users to draft messages, brainstorm, plan events and have fun conversations. Specifically optimized for Google Messages to deliver more concise responses, Gemini will allow users to have direct one-on-one conversations that cannot be attached to other conversations.

Gemini integrates with extensions such as Workspace (Gmail, etc.), YouTube and GoogleMaps. Users can leave like or dislike feedback by long-pressing on a response, star responses and forward them. Conversations take place over RCS (which requires an internet connection), but end-to-end encryption is not supported.

A generation is sad: ICQ is shutting down after 28 years

The feature, which has been available to beta users since March, will now be available to a wider user base, excluding the EEA (European Economic Area), the UK, Switzerland and India. What do you think? Please share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
